Apollo 8 Earthrise

I am very disappointed in all nine of my prints. I chose the “Premium Print” which says it is a “fine pearl texture” and also the one they recommend. This type of print actually has a matte surface which in the light calls attention to the surface itself, an actual texture made up of what looks like tiny dots. This visible textural surface is so distracting that I now see that rather than the depth, clarity and space which is really the point of having these images. Of course, the JW and Hubble images themselves are beautiful. I wish I had realized what a difference the type of print could make.

Color calibration is spot on. The Earth blues and the grey of the moon look exactly right.

The tonal range in this print is really well handled. The shadows on the lunar surface still have detail.

Paper quality is thick and the inks look archival. This thing should last decades.

My grandfather worked on the Apollo program. He passed in 2019. This hangs in my office and I think of him every single day.
