Unicorn, and a Christmas Tree
NGC 2264

Glowing hydrogen gas fills this gorgeously detailed sky view centered on the variable star S Mon in the faint but fanciful constellation Monoceros, the Unicorn. A star forming region (NGC 2264), the complex jumble of cosmic gas and dust is about 2,700 light-years distant and mixes reddish emission nebulae excited by energetic light from newborn stars with dark interstellar dust clouds. Where the otherwise obscuring dust clouds lie closest to stars they also reflect starlight, forming blue reflection nebulae. The wide vista spans about 1.5 degrees or nearly 3 full moons, covering 70 light-years at the distance of NGC 2264. Its cast of cosmic characters includes the Cone Nebula (far left), the Fox Fur Nebula, whose convoluted pelt lies just below S Mon, and the Christmas Tree star cluster. The triangular Christmas Tree cluster appears sideways here, with its apex at the Cone Nebula and its broader base centered on S Mon.

All images are cropped to fit the selected size within +/- .5". Therefore, some part of the image may not appear in the final print, when comparing to the online thumbnail. This missing part may appear on the sides or the top and bottom. This is a standard printing practice so that the finished product will fit standard frame sizes. This cropping is the default action.

If you would like uncropped images, tell us by putting a note in the comment section at Checkout. Keep in mind that the uncropped image size will always be smaller than the ordered size.

The actual sizes of objects in the image may not vary within 1/2" due to printer resizing during the final print imaging on the printers.

$4.99 Flat shipping for small Unframed Prints

Orders 11x14 and smaller that fit in a smaller mailer will be shipped flat by USPS First Class for $4.99 to anywhere within the US.

Unframed Prints larger than 11x14

Our Premium and Fine Art prints larger than 11x14 will be carefully rolled, and shipped in a sturdy tube.

Large Size & Custom Size Products

Products over 40" long that are shipped flat, such as MetalPrints, may require freight shipping. We can provide freight quotes for these orders. Please allow additional time for the delivery.
Custom sizes may incur an increased shipping charge due to special handling required.

Shipping Pricing

Unframed prints under 11x14 are $4.99 for Economy USA orders since they can be sent out flat. For larger size unframed prints, they are $6.99. For all else, shipping cost are based on price per item. Please see below.
